      Planting over 650 Trees

      Planting over 650 Trees

In 2021 we pledged to plant a tree for every tender or accreditation we submitted on behalf of our clients.  Now, in 2022 we are pleased to announce we have helped plant over 650 trees with the support of some of our clients.

On Saturday 12th March a team of us from Bid & Tender Support and KCS Compliance, along with a few family members and representatives from Hutchinson’s Builders and M&J Group headed over to The Forest of Marston Vale to get planting.

The Forest of Marston Vale is a Community Forest and Charity, involved in planting trees and using woodlands to make life better for the people and wildlife in the 61 square mile area of the Marston Vale, between Bedford and Milton Keynes. The Charity has planted over 2 million trees so far, to transform the landscape and improve the prospects of the Marston Vale – environmentally, socially and economically.

The environmental benefits of trees are numerous and well documented – they help to cool and clean our air, lock up carbon, reduce flooding, provide sustainable raw materials, and are our best hope in combatting the climate crisis. However, the social and economic benefits are also significant. Having access to green space and being in nature is important for our physical and mental well-being, which is why the Charity creates pockets of woodland within or close to villages in the Marston Vale, so the local community benefits. Trees and woodland also make an area a more attractive location for business, residential and recreational use – hence the economic benefit that trees bring.

It was a beautiful sunny day when we arrived and we enjoyed some bacon and sausage rolls on the patio outside, before a quick presentation on the excellent work they are doing at the Forest of Marston Vale.

We then headed over to the planting area, armed with mallets and spades.  We had a quick demonstration on how to plant the trees and got planting!  We had a lovely morning, apart from a quick downpour which we weren’t expecting and planted over 80 trees.  We have recorded our What3words locations (forge.given.lion) and we will be back in a few (well maybe a lot more) years to see how they are getting on.

We would like to thank our clients who also supported us in this project, BSG Property Services, Hutchinson Builders, John O’Conner Grounds Maintenance Ltd, MD Govier Electrical Engineering, M&J Group, Parias Construction & Interiors and RAM Building Consultancy.

So, very simply, trees make life better – for people, for wildlife and for the planet. The Forest of Marston Vale’s goal is 30% tree coverage across the forest area, and that means planting another 5 million trees.  To find out more, please head over to their website, or even better – pop over for a walk round and we recommend a stop off in the café at the end!
