The Benefits of Getting Business Awards when Tendering

The Benefits of Getting Business Awards when Tendering

By Christine Brown, Monday 28th November 2016

There are endless varieties of awards for businesses in all industries and of all sizes. Some can be quite costly to enter for, and with no guarantee of a win many businesses may shy away from the process. But there are several ways that getting some awards to your Company can benefit you in winning tenders in the future and therefore make the investment worthwhile even if you just get shortlisted:

      • Credibility

To even be short-listed or nominated for an award can act as a third party endorsement for your business. If you are submitting a tender to a client who doesn’t have an existing relationship with you, listing awards you have been nominated or short-listed for serves as evidence you are established enough to compete for the business. It can be a key differentiator that makes you stand out over other bidders who only have their own word that they are good at what they do.

      • Marketing

Award processes are fantastic for marketing, often the fee for going for them is more than returned in the coverage your Company can receive in the build up to the awards ceremony. This will vary for each process but can include coverage in newspapers, business journals, radio or even television. Getting your branding out there makes you more recognisable and familiar to those reading your bid submissions. Printed media and web based coverage can also often be included as an appendix to your submission in an ‘About Us’ section.

      • Networking to Build your Potential

Get to know the other businesses in your area, often awards aren’t focused solely on competitors as they have numerous categories. Make some contacts and you can partner to delivery on tenders you wouldn’t have the resource or exact product/service set to deliver on your own.
