      About This Project

      Sector: Flooring

      Size: Medium

Client Description: Commercial and domestic flooring company with over 20 years’ experience

Problems Faced by Client – Why did they need our help?

The company was tendering for a large contract opportunity with a local housing authority and approached us to proofread and sense check their response.  They knew they could do the work – but putting it into words was something they felt they needed outside help with; an impartial second pair of eyes to make sure everything made sense and put their company in the best light.

Services Provided – Meeting their needs.

Our first remit was to review the response document, checking that all questions had been answered correctly, within word count limit and promoted the company’s skills to their best advantage.  Although the questions had been answered, we felt that a lot of it was generic marketing copy – it didn’t provide a solution for the buyer and in places the response was very thin on the ground, using 250 words out of 1000 for example.  There was a lack of evidence throughout – claims of excellence but not how, or where, or when, and the structure was loose yet wordy and difficult to read in places.

Once we had noted up our many comments on how improvements could be made, the client realised there was a lot of work required on it that they weren’t in a position to carry out.  They knew what they wanted to say, but not how to say it or what to focus on, so asked us if we would be able to re-write the tender based on their input and company documentation.

Although the turnaround was less than a week and required a large number of questions to be answered, we adjusted our projects to accommodate it, as this was a very important contract for the client.  Although they thought they may not win it, they really wanted to have submitted a proposal which could lead to feedback and potential work in the future.

We collaborated with the company to formulate strong responses, ensuring that all questions were answered fully, solutions provided, relevant case studies highlighted and a compelling, clearly laid out document submitted on time.

Outcome of our Work – Improved Win Rate, Gained Accreditation etc

We were thrilled to learn that the company was awarded the contract with a very high-quality score which, along with their competitive pricing, ensured they stood out from the crowd and were worthy winners.
