Date Set for Article 50: Theresa May will trigger Brexit next week

It is Theresa May’s intention to trigger Article 50, on 29th March 2017, of the Lisbon treaty which officially informs the EU of the UK’s intention to withdraw. This has created much controversy and uncertainty on how it will effect Public sector spending, but there is no reason why leaving the EU should negatively impact confidence and growth.

The intention of Brexit should be about building a strong economy and ensuring that the benefits of economic growth and prosperity are felt across every part of the UK.

Whilst it is difficult to foresee the changes and impact this will have on business and the economy, we feel that this time of uncertainty and change is a time to pull together.

It is unlikely we will see drastic or fast changes within Public Procurement Regulations – as procurement legislation existed before the EU Directives and we will still need a form of procurement law – the public sector will still need to purchase!

The UK had a significant input in the existing procurement legislation and therefore is likely to adopt a similar stance.

One thing we do know, the markets are going to be competitive, the work is out there but businesses have to work smart to remain ahead of their competition by adopting innovative solutions and offering the very best value for money.
